This was an interesting find on eBay AU - three figural glass beads from the 1920s possibly by Neiger Brothers. These were most likely part of a necklace. I've found a pair of necklaces with similar beads currently for sale on eBay UK which include the three beads seen here as well as various other animal shapes. I also have another single Neiger glass bead, a Pharoah's head in cobalt blue, which I acquired many years ago in a lot of glass buttons.
The beads are made from an opaque ivory glass that contains uranium & glows green under UV light. They have some touches of paint to highlight details, which also gives them a look of carved ivory or bone. There is a figure of a child or baby, a cat, & an elephant. The beads are linked on a small segment of brass chain. Czech origin.
I'm going to use this item as a "dangle" for the key of an Art Deco display cabinet I'm taking delivery of tomorrow (can't wait, I seriously need more storage!).
I'll post a photo of it hanging on my new cabinet tomorrow....just added it!
Updated with a new photo of it on my cabinet key!
