Hello everyone!!
With Autumn here and Thanksgiving right around the corner, I thought it'd be a great time to post this large Victorian Era cast iron ringneck pheasant doorstop. This one comes from England and was made sometime during the mid to late 1800's. It has experienced only minimal paint loss over the past 150 years of it's life and still retains a bit of the blue ring around it's neck. It appears that the base has been repainted green at one time or another, but the pheasant still retains it's original paint. I do not know the foundry that cast this wonderful pheasant, but it was cast very well. Though there are many vintage and antique cast iron and bronze pheasants on the market today, I've yet to find another like this one. It's a solid one piece design and weighs 14 1/2lbs. It measures 15" long, 7" tall and 3 1/2" wide.
Thanks very much for stopping in for a look!!

That's an impressive tail feather..amazing it hasn't broke all these years..
Beautiful Victorian pheasant with such gorgeous coloring
Dave,
Thanks! It's pretty heavy, so I doubt that it was moved around too much throughout it's life. But, it is amazing that it has survived at all over the past 150+ years.
Jenni,
Thank you!! I too love the coloring on this pheasant.
