Hello everyone!!
I haven't posted a lamp in a while, So I thought I'd post this one. It's a Snooty Fox lamp that was made by Century in 1960. It was in very poor condition when I bought it. About 70% of the red paint was missing from the fox, the felt that he stands on was faded and dirty, the brass was severely tarnished and the lampshade was missing. The fox is made of chalkware or ceramic, not sure which one though. There are several similar variations of this lamp, but this particular version is the most highly sought after and sells for ridiculously high prices.
I cleaned the brass, repainted the fox, replaced the green felt and replaced the light socket. I already had the vintage lampshade and it seemed to go well with the lamp. Voila, a newly restored Snooty Fox lamp. The fox stands 12 1/8" tall, the lamp is 29 1/2" tall (from base to top of finial) and the base is 8" in diameter. I saw one identical to this one posted on CW years ago.
Thanks for stopping in to see my Snooty Fox lamp!!

Fantastic workmanship! Thanks for sharing. :)
DejaVu,
Thank you so very much!! I truly enjoyed bringing this wonderful lamp back to life.
That shade is perfect, really finishes the piece. Curious..what kind of paint do you use? Is it oil based, acrylic...do you use a primer with the cast iron?
Dave,
Thanks very much!! I actually bought 3 of these lampshades a few years back, for $5.00 each, and figured I'd eventually use them. I've used two of the three so far. In regards to my paints, I use acrylics and I do use primers on my cast iron.
The Snooty Fox is one of your cutest animals I love him! And that hunting shade is really great
Jenni,
Thanks very much!! I really love this one as well. I'd love to find another of these lamps, but I'm not will to pay the outrageous prices being asked. Even for the ones that are chipped and broken, the sellers are asking ridiculous prices.
