Hello everyone!!
A few weeks ago I posted a 1960's "Snooty Fox" lamp. I was able to find another, but when it arrived to me the chalkware fox was pretty much shattered. The fox was literally broken in half, the right foot was broken off and missing pieces, the tail had a large chunk missing from the end and there were many pieces broken out and crumbled. The seller was kind to enough to give me a full refund. I got online and learned how to repair chalkware. As you can see, I was able to repair the broken chalkware fox and repaint him. I cleaned the lamp, replaced the light socket with a higher quality socket and gave it a new lamp shade. Voila, I now have two of these "Snooty Fox" lamps. Though they are slightly different from one another, as they were made by two different manufacturers, they still look great together.
Thanks very much for stopping in for a look!!
Scott
Terrific new 60s Snooty Fox lamp, the pair look wonderful together - Scott you have worked your magic on the repair it looks flawless to me
Jenni,
Thank you so very much!! It was quite an undertaking to repair this fella, but I didn’t think it turned out too bad.
By your works, you would never know it was damaged. Great job on the restoration!
DejaVu,
Many thanks for the kind words. I had to make a new end for the tail, one of his coat tails as well as part of a boot. You can work wonders on chalkware pieces using drywall compound or plaster of Paris.
Nice job Scott. Would've loved to have seen the damaged photo, but that's just my curiosity. I love when bad circumstances give you an opportunity to learn a new skill.
Dave,
Thanks very much!! I'm just glad I learned a new skill, how to repair chalkware. I went back to eBay and tried to upload the photos I sent the seller and for some odd reason it won't let me retrieve them.
