Model Rails are notorious collectors, and, according to the Missus, I’m guilty as charged. Sometimes, it’s a great thing, for those of us who come along later. Take a Mr. Franklin Morrison, of Detroit, Michigan. Not only did he subscribe to The Model Railroader, in 1941, but he kept each issue. As an added (and significant) bonus, he kept all but two issues in their original mailing envelopes, truly a rare find, these days. I came across these, years ago, and, although I had that particular year, I didn’t have (nor had I seen) the original envelopes.
Items, like this, give collecting a very personal connection. No longer did it once belong to “some guy”, but I know his name, and address. Interesting, for sure!
