This is a really interesting small vase that turned up under the Christmas tree!
It measures 14.3 cm tall, 4 cm across the top rim & 4.7 cm across the base. I can't tell what the base colour of the glass is as the iridescence is so intense, but it does show a UV response on the base, where the pontil mark has been polished out & also a little on the edges where the base has been polished/worn down.
The iridescent finish is thick & has an intense golden colour - the photos don't quite do it justice.
Now, to an attribution! I haven't seen a vase like this before in terms of either shape or golden iridescence. It doesn't look like Bohemian art glass to me. So I was scratching around trying to figure it out, & decided at random to pull an old book off the shelf, Ray & Lee Grover's Art Glass Nouveau. There I saw some items with a similar form (scent bottles, not a vase) & others with a similar golden iridescence, made by Steuben. I feel that the top opening on this item is slightly too wide to be a scent bottle missing its stopper. So perhaps a bud vase based on a scent bottle form? I have not been able to find out if Steuben used a uranium based glass for use in their Aurene items.
Also, most of the examples I've found online have had signatures, & mine doesn't. The other issue is that I've never encountered any Steuben Aurene glass in all my decades of collecting glass in Australia. It's way outside of my experience.
To me, this doesn't really look like a piece of modern studio glass, but whatever it is, the standard of finish & quality is very high. It's thin & delicate, yet substantial in its own unique way.
Any help would be much appreciated!

      Many thanks, Kevin!
It was found in Orange...do you reckon any Aurene made it there?!

Been doing a bit more visual research & have seen some Durand art glass items with a similar golden iridescence. Also saw a photo of a Durand vase in the same shape but much bigger...so, perhaps another possibility?
