Here are a few vintage Halloween candy and nut holders. These pieces date from the 1950's-1960's. The pumpkins are made from a pulp product, and the other pieces are made of plastic. All are made in the USA.

Esther110, pulp is a material prepared by chemical or mechanical means, such as wood or rags, for use in making paper or cellulose products.

So it's something like very, very thick paper? That is so interesting!! And amazing they survived without burning up!!

Yes, it is like paper mache. It is a wonder many lanterns survived considering how easily they could burn. Several of mine have scortch marks on the inside.
