    As you remember from Ovid's "Metamorphoses" Venus disarmed her son Cupid by taking his arrows from him to avoid more torments of love. This is what we see on this painting. Unsigned. Oil on panel. 43,0 cm X 31,5 cm. Probably from around 1800. Several other artists have painted each their version of the subject. Is this version painted by Jacques-Antoine Vallin (1760-1835) ? Maybe you know ?
