This 3 1-2"L brooch depicts the mythical firebird, with a white rhinestone body, blue cabochon eye and pearly multi color enamel, on goldtone. Made by Maresco of NY founded in 1974, this 70s brooch is pictured on the nasvete.com site
This is my first time hearing off this jewelry company. It is absolutely gorgeous! With the lovely rhinestones and enamel!
BEAUTIFUL firebird Jenni!!
Appears to have nicely precise workmanship, in particular the enameling is absolutely beautiful and something a man would love too !~
Very nice, he reminds me of your other bird brooches, especially with the rhinestone body and coloured feathers.
I don't think I've ever seen a Firebird brooch before? I know them from Russian mythology??
Seeing one depicted as a simple little brooch though a...slavic design look to him is really great. Though the long tail has me thinking of a bird of paradise!
With thanks to you all for the love

Thank you for your marvelous comments
DejaVu, you and me both, Maresco is a name I was not familiar with. They did some pretty jewelry featured on the nasvete site including this bird, and I'd like to find more of their items
Scott I'm so happy you found this firebird beautiful, it has pretty flowing plumage yet looks rather predatory
Phil I agree, the workmanship on this bird is great with nice tight rhinestones & has held up well over the yrs. A man could certainly wear this fierce bird also
Lauren the seller also described it as a bird of paradise, but I found it on nasvete.com called a firebird and that really fits doesn't it. There are many legends of this mythical bird esp in Russian & Slavic folklore, they even made a beautiful ballet of it that Margot Fonteyn had danced. The firebird is sometimes compared to the phoenix, and in present day some red birds are called firebirds. Fascinating stuff!
Awesome Jenni!
Ralph thank you so much for your super compliment & love, it is SO wonderful to see you here & I hope and pray all is good in your life. All the best always, Jenni
I used to wear one I loved for a couple years in 78 to 80 !~
Actually he was a road runner !~
Thank you Phil for your fabulous comments! You will be pleased I have found a road runner brooch for a future post :)
