We have a local site for posting/requesting free stuff and I happened to be logged in when someone posted "Boxes Of Vintage Junk" and I jumped on it. The person was clearing out a house and just getting rid of stuff. He was just emptying cabinets etc into boxes and taping them up. I got two boxes and some of the stuff was pretty cool, some old keys, a few vintage compacts and some junk. I'll post the good stuff. One of the boxes had a few items wrapped in kinda gross towels and I almost just tossed them, but something made me unwrap one of them, and I am so glad I did! Three Victorian era boxes! Only one was in really nice shape, the others aren't in perfect shape, but they are still really nice! When I opened up this one, it was filled with stuff!
This goes to show that it definitely pays to check out free stuff sites!
Interesting sewing stuff..the bodkin set is cool.
That is some nice vintage junk. Some manicure pieces in there too.
It would be a lot easier on my old eyes if the items were photographed on a solid color background.
The items with hooked ends look like button hooks….for grasping the button shank and pulling it thru a button hole.
The items that look like chopsticks were likely used when the seamstress sewed items such as collars or lapels which had corners that needed to be sharply defined….so I believe they are sewing aides.
The green oblong thing with rounded ends might have been to smoothe a seam open (rather than press it open).
The leather-looking thing with numerous loops looks as if it would hold the sewing items together as an organized set.
