Yes it was probably used as an ashtray but what an ashtray!!
A beautiful red on the interior with a thin layer of white and them a lovely toffee/amber on the outside.
132mm wide from lobe to lobe, 60mm high and very solid.
I have one similar. Yours's is a 4 bay, mine is a 3 bay. I've looked at the vintage of these repeatedly. I believe they are Seguso. They are common in 3 bay, never seen the 4 bay version before. They come in a number of color combinations, mostly with variations of the inner layer. The outer Amber casing is common and the white inner liner is common, but there are variations of those layers as well. I'm not sure if we're the same color or not, but I think mine is Raspberry.
Thanks for the information Deano and I think Raspberry is a good description for the red colour on this one too!
