This oil on wood painting that has the same dimension as the precedent one. It represents probably the same couple but some years earlier and almost certainly was produced before; the style is more rudimentary and had loosed parts of the painting.
There are a lot of light but there are no candles so it must be with day light. There are three characters, the couple is having breakfast and a servant or cook who is assisting them. The whole scene is plain of actions; the man is reading what seems a newspaper, he wares glasses and is signaling the lines with a knife that has in the right hand, with the left one he is holding a fork that has a piece of meat. He is wearing the The woman is hearing with great attention the head cleaned over her crossed hands. The servant is also wearing a regular military uniform since his trousers are red, has a big a big white apron, he is carring several plates with both hands.
The sitting man is wearing the uniform of a soave officier (similar to the one that is entitled officier interpret last picture https://repository.library.brown.edu/iiif/image/bdr:245356/full/1000,1354/0/default.jpg). The coat is grey with black ribbons in the borders and sleeves with embroidery. The woman has a light bluish-gray dress and the white ruffles of the shirt appear under the collar and cuffs (see next post for details).
The furniture is sumptuous, on the back wall, there is a large gobelin, there is a big fireplace on the left and over it two big brown urn containing dried leaves and spikes and a big mantle clock with bronze. In front, a fire screen made of a tapestry showing sitting a dog. The chairs are Louis XIII with brass nail heads that were used during the revival of the style in the XIX century in contrast with the originals (see next post). The round table is amazing with ormolu garlands all over the border a central column that open in the base in three extension that have some golden figure above (see pictures next post). Over the table, there are several tableware items, an egg goblet, a big and two small decanters in glass, a hen in the nest in opaline of Portieux, a salad bowl with some greens inside, another covered dish and a bread container. In the back, over the sideboard a brass kettle and other tableware. What is more amazing is the African lion skin rug under the table. Near him an sleeping dog.
