Hello everyone!!
A recent addition to my rabbit and hare collection's is this early 1900’s cast iron snow hare doorstop. This one is detailed much better than other cast iron rabbits I’ve seen. The fur is nicely detailed and this one has its head stuck out a bit further than others. Also, you'll find that the inside of his ears are turned outward instead of straight forward like most are. He’s a two piece design held together with a single bolt. I’m not sure who the foundry was that produced this rabbit as I’ve not found any information on this. I doubt that the silver paint is original to this one, but I can’t find traces of any other color under the silver paint. I actually believe that this one was originally painted white. He stands 11 3/4” tall, 11 1/8” deep.
Thanks very much for stopping in for a look!!

Silver paint..with the red background and lighting it looked like a chocolate bunny to me..
Luscious rabbit perfectly formed...you have the absolute best bunnies Scott
Dave,
Thanks! Now that you mention it, he sure does look like a chocolate bunny. I may strip this old paint from him and paint him to his original colors. Haven't quite decided yet.
