Here is a 3 1-2"W red-amberina mouse (rat?) made by Kanawha Glass of WV in the 1970s. I had previously posted the 3"H standing mouse (also in amberina) by Kanawha, which is more obviously a mouse, and both have the Kanawha labels. Since their catalogs are only on CD-ROM & I don't have access, I'd appreciate any opinions or knowledge about this rodent :) Compare both animals in photo #4
BTW both pieces are labeled as mouse by internet sellers
Interesting pieces both. Does it say Rat or Mouse in the literature that you have? It doesn't seem to be a mouse to me, sans tail, a Gerbil maybe, idk. I keep going back to the photos. That's my best rodent guess.
Love the red colour standing on its own !~
I love this mouse and the last pic of both mice is outstanding Jenni!! I love them both!!
I don't know..if it didn't have the long tail...I thought it looked like a pig. Regardless an interesting find.
Thanks so much everyone for the love

And super thanks for your wonderful comments
Dean, I can see the gerbil or hamster look for sure! Since I don't have access to Kanawha catalogs & there are a scant few glass animals by them in my books, I try to get them w/ labels, then search online images for names given them by sellers. Both of these have always been named mouse, but years ago I posted a green version and alot of CW members thought it looked more like a rat, so I just threw that out there
Phil the red amberina glass is always bewitching, usually the red is dominant but the gold accents are great highlights on these guys
Scott I'm so glad you loved this pair of rodents! I've always preferred the Kanawha glass animals best of the WV co's because they had more variety, for example they made a parakeet which is my favorite bird, although Pilgrim did make a cute mouse
Dave this one does have a squatty body much like a pig, good guess! Kanawha animals were often exaggerated, for instance they made a deer with very long upright ears. Since these two were always called a mouse in online sources I guess I'll have to stick to that description
Thank you Sean for the love for this glass mouse, very kind of you and always very gratefully appreciated
