    Hello everyone!!
Another highly coveted doorstop that I've wanted for many years and finally was able to find one. This one was made by Hubley, and designed by British cartoonist Anne Harriet Fish and is titled "Charleston Dancers". There are many counterfeit ©FISH doorstops on the market today and some of the counterfeits do look pretty good. However, a well trained eye can detect the counterfeits pretty easily. But, this one is a true original Hubley No. 270 ©FISH doorstop and carries quite a high value. I happen to own two Hubley ©FISH doorstops, Charleston Dancers and Messenger (pic #3). I hope to eventually add one each of all the Hubley ©FISH doorstops to my collection.

Most I've seen were in very poor condition or the wrong colors altogether. Also, most sellers are asking a small fortune for this doorstop. I was lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time and landed this one for less than $200. Though this one isn't perfect by any means, it's still in pretty good condition. You'll notice the ©FISH embossed into the front of the base (pic #1). It also has the number 270 stamped into the back of the base (pic #4) which you won't find on the fakes and if you do, it will be very faint and nearly impossible to read. Also, these FISH doorstops all have a glossy finishes, whereas the counterfeits have a dull finish and the castings are rough. This one measures 8 7/8" tall and 5 3/8" wide.

Anne Harriet Fish (1890-1964) was a British cartoonist and illustrator in the early 1900's. Her history is fairly long, but you can read more about this fascinating lady on wikipedia.

Thanks very much for stopping in for a look!!
