This little Japanese sake cup is 2.75" in diameter x 1.25" high and is marked on the bottom. It depicts a samurai or other warrior. There is some text inside the cup, some gold highlighting and some applied white porcelain. It once had gold applied to the rim but that is mostly worn off. It interior surface has the appearance of craquelure but I think a different technique was used, which I am not familiar with.
It is a pretty fancy little cup and a lot of effort was expended in making and decorating it. I am not sure if it is unique or was part of a set. It came just as you see it.
I have no idea who made it, where or when.
The colors are more vibrant and the gold accents much more noticeable so I will probably try to get better images when I can use sunlight instead of artificial lighting.
Beautiful sake cup!!
