Hello everyone!!
Another very recent find is this late 1800's trifold mirror. This one was made by Peter Weiderer, of New York City in the late 1800's. Mr. Weiderer was a German immigrant who later became an American citizen and eventually built a thriving business in New York City. Peter Weiderer designed and patented this mirror on October 20, 1885. This doesn't mean that this particular mirror was made in 1885, but was indeed made sometime during that later part of the 1800's. The pressed tin panels are very ornate and the clasp is quite fancy as well. The mirror is in superb condition. I'm told these were typically used, when traveling, as shaving mirrors, vanity mirrors and by barbers during the 1800's and early 1900's. This mirror measures 9 1/2" long, 9 1/2" wide and 1 3/8" when fully closed and 29" long when fully open.
Thanks very much for stopping in for a look!!
