This ruby ring was in my local antique store years ago but the building burned down in recent times. The people whom purchased the lot where the old antique store used to be have opened a resale/consignment store nearby where the old store burned down. I bought this ring which is marked 925, moreover when i first got it it was black, I have tried to clean and polish it up, if anyone has any tricks or tips on cleaning id appreciate it. Also can anyone tell me approxiaye time period in which this beautiful ring couldve been made
    Thanx yall

Is the stone covered on the back or like the front. if there is no coating it is easy to clean. If the stone does have a covering on the back it is not just as easy as washing it. Some stones have a reflective quality like rhinestones which always have a backing. That will be removed in a couple years if glue or washing is not done . Better to look. Also if no backing it is usually easy to wash or use some silver polish.

Tarn X is a good brand to clean sterling silver gently. If the stone is real you can soak the ring in it, otherwise as Phil said best to just use a cloth to clean around the silver parts. Good luck, and it's a lovely ring
