My neighbor is moving out of state this weekend and decided not to take her childhood dolls after all. She asked I donate them to Goodwill, but I told her I had first dibs on sorting through them beforehand. The 9 Barbies dolls belonging to her daughters will be donated as they are newer.
Therefore, I’m asking for any input you doll experts may have on which ones to donate and which ones may be worth taking to the local antique store., as I know nothing about dolls. I have my own doll collection consisting of my Chatty Cathy, Teary Dearie,, Grace M. Putnam, and my Mom’s dolls. The only one of this new group I’m keeping is the little Shirley Temple as I always wanted one…????
The Ideal Posie Doll is marked VO-17. She is 17” tall. The box is marked 3650-5T. While her face is rather dirty, she still bends, cried (scared me to death) and eyes open/shut well.
Tiny Tears has a reason to cry. It has a broken leg that was still in the suitcase, and a missing finger. I have never seen such bad hair on a poor baby…kind of looks like bad shag carpet. It is 12” tall. Best I can tell, it is marked E. Character. Some of the instructions are still intact.
Thoughts?
Thank you for looking and any input!
I would not donate either, both collectible and Tiny Tears can be repaired, someone will love her .
