Large Glass Trinket/?

Hello I’ve just rediscovered this and had forgotten I had it , so I’m happy now. I don’t know anything about it but it’s cut glass with etching of fruit on the top, could it be for jewels, guessing it’s not powder, very heavy and wonder how old it is
