I bought a beautiful modernist style vintage sari yesterday and looking for some of its history. I am an Art History major and just bought it because it has a modernist/ picasso kind of vibe. It's 43.5 inches wide and 219 inches long. The section to the right is 37 inches with a border and different print. It had the black border drawings. There is a section of 97.5 inches with a sewed on peachy nude border on the back.
Looks like silk. The main fabric has a roughness that might be silk shantung? The design has abstract animals like rabbits and giraffes. Is there a particular style of dress this was for? Period?
Place? Looks like mid-century to me. Thanks!
