I was waiting for my lunch recently and saw one of the local niknak shops was closing (a victim of online shopping probably) and they were having a 50% off sale so went in to kill a bit of time and spotted this for NZ$50 (about US$30), I didn't care where it was made it's a lovely piece and took it home.
How often do you see these on Ebay and similar described as Murano! The people who made it have obviously seen a bit of Murano as it is a classic shape.
Very heavy and thick walled 38cm tall.
Byooteeful!
Somehow, they are automating production of complex pieces of art glass and cranking out nearly identical copies of complex pieces. They have been doing for U.S. company Teleflora's commercial floral glass for quite some time.
Here is an example:

Here is another example of mass produced Chinese art glass.. I have several more. No idea how they are cookie cuttering this kind of glass. I have a few pieces which appear to be hand made.

Thanks for looking and your comments Kevin.
I remeber seeing one of the Chinese factories on the TV a few years ago when they have Chinese New Year and all the young workers from the countryside get their one holiday to go home and visit their parents. They lived in cramped dormitories on site in bunk beds stacked 3 high. Maybe they have one of these dedicated to art type glass made by the hundred.
