Does anyone have any information on this style paperweight? I have searched and cannot find one with holes in it. The hole openings are very smooth and penetrate down to the yellow area. The yellow area is domed with small controlled bubbles encircling it to the domed area with more bubbles scattered across the dome. No makers marks. The wide base is very worn and scratched with tiny shallow holes encircling the dark center. Is it something other than a paperweight? Maybe a pen holder or a flower frog? Also interested in its age. Measures 3" in diameter X 2.875" high. Weighs 1 pound 4 ounces. It's beautiful! Thank you for your thoughts.
are the holes deep enough or big enough to hold a pen or pencil?
Yes, the holes are wide enough to hold a pen and/or pencil. Each hole is just over an inch deep.
As the bottom suggest these are called generally a controlled bubbles paperweight.
Such a bright yellow !~
Thank you for your input. Yes, the yellow is very bright. The main question in my mind is the purpose of the holes... Of all the many, many weights I have owned and seen online, I have not seen even the first one with holes blown into the top of the weight. The tops are always smooth without a deep hole pattern on top.
Glass weight done like a glass flower frog .....centerpiece to hold stems in a vase or flower bowl .
