Ferdinand E. Rebhan Mantle Clock circa 1870, Buffalo New York

This clock is a marriage of a number of clocks even before I got it. The only way I can identify it is from a card that was posted on the back of it. I think he serviced the clock at one time, it has undergone numerous services since. The dial had been drilled to accommodate a rather greasy old Sessions movement, which was not original to the clock. Although I got the Sessions movement running with the clock, I didn't care for it. It has an older Friederick Martin Krober movement in it now.
The wooded case was dry and cracking. The case has an interesting feature that I didn't know about when it was ordered, it has a baffle that makes the sound of the ticking less noisy. These baffles usually end up lost because they are detachable. I decoupaged Mr. Rebhan's business card to the back of the baffle. It chimes on the hour and half and is now in pristine shape. It has become one of my favorites.
