    Now here is one that I really need help with identifying.I picked it up doing a find.I was interested in the symbol printed on it. I think the item is made of brass but I am not sure. Help needed.

      It's an old mortar, used to grind, spices, herbs....

      The lion under a crown is the coat of arms of the city of Leon, Spain, but the lion and the crown are often used in coats of arms all over Europe. I can't really say more.
      I do know bronze mortars were widely made and used in Spain, I have one in my collection, but it's not ornate like yours, and not as old.
      I've seen a couple of repros of yours in Spanish sites, but they didn't say anything about the original.
      This site has one like yours, with the pestle, and says it's English. Sold for $250.
