    Ben Kypridakis (1932-2023) born in Sacramento, California. He initially studied ornamental horticulture at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo from 1952 to 1954. From 1954 to 1958, he served in the U.S. Air Force. After his military service, he attended a small junior college before enrolling at CSU Sacramento, where he studied Art. He first studied painting and lithography and then progressed into ceramics, when he met a very important mentor in his life Ruth Rippon, who founded the ceramics department at CSUS. He furthered his studies in ceramics at the University of Iowa where he received his M.F.A. in 1962. After receiving his advanced degree, he taught at the South Australia School of Art from 1963-1965. He returned to the United States in 1965, where he accepted an Assistant Professor at CSUS and taught Art from 1965-1975. And then Ben returned to Australia to teach at the North Adelaide School of Art from 1975 to 1994. In 1994, he became an artist in residence at the school. Ben worked in several mediums such as painting, lithography and ceramics. As a ceramicist, he experimented with luster glazes and the vessel form for several decades. A portion of his exhibition record includes: California State Fair, Kingsley Art Club, Sacramento, California, Everson Museum of Art, Syracuse, New York, National Decorative Arts Ceramic Exhibition of Wichita, Kansas Young Americans, Museum of Contemporary Crafts, New York, Craftsman of Central States, Indianapolis, Indiana, Annual Scripps College International, Los Angeles, California, and Expo 67 Designer Styles of Adelaide South Australia. He exhibited at the Syracuse Ceramic Nationals in 1962 and 1966.
