Two recent acquisitions are these Baldwin RS16 “Sharknose”, from Maria Metal Products, from the 1950’s. Neither one was assembled, further than the factory assembly of trucks/motors, and all parts and paperwork are present . Note those older boxes, that had the hinges lids. Also found in this style box were the switch type steam locomotives, all metal construction, including the tender. They didn’t switch over to mostly plastic construction for another decade.
A modeler could get a pretty decent roster of non EMD diesels, with the offerings of Mantua, Hobbyline, English, and Lindsay, and he got some good quality with many of those.
