Sometimes it is about the ‘Look’. I looked at this tray and my mind was taken back to Fornasetti and then was dragged further back to France rather than Italy, to Paris rather than Milano. A solid piece of Paris porcelain. Square. A Romantic scene of a young galant losing his heart to a sweet young thing, while three putti are hiding naughtily in the undergrowth. All in Grisaille : overglaze transfer printed. Unmarked. C. 1840.
Un plateau de déjeuner en porcelaine de Paris à décor d'une scène galante appliqué par transfert reprenant des gravures du XIXe siècle, en grisaille.
A great drinks tray. Cheers !!!
