The Original Paper Fastener was the first stapler ever produced, with a manufacture date of 1877. The internet would have you believe that King Louis XV and a stapler, but in fact, no he did not. What was described as a stapler was his offical seal used to certify all official documents. Others would have you believe that Samuel Slocum invented a stapler, while he produced the first machine that stuck pins in a sheet of paper so he could sell his pins.
