Beautiful japanese bowls - very small - probably too small for a rice bowl but just a guess. Good mark underneath, feel high quality - amy ideas - gratefully received. I have tried all the usual google searches and find similar signatures but not the one I am looking for. Thank you so much.

      Dimensions? Height? Diameter?
    2. Aly, 11 days ago
It is 6 cm's in height and across the top of the bowl 9 cm's with the bottom circle 4 cm's - hope this helps ;) thank you

A bit small for rice bowls, a bit large to be sauce/dipping bowls, but if I had to choose, I would guess bowls for dipping. Rims do not appear to be great for drinking from so probably not tea bowls.

Porcelain, so would probably be unpleasant to handle if contents were hot. So, dipping or small soup bowls, I think.

Hand painted, probably. Not familiar with the mark.

Yes, Japanese. I don't think they are very old, post WWII I think. Vintage is a pretty nebulous term, 20-99 years old, etc., so I don't think that is a meaningful descriptor in this case. Nice but not remarkable, probably depends on who the kiln/artist is to determine "gee whiz" factor.

Waffling on whether these are hand painted. Images are inconclusive. Don't see a lot of variation in thickness of the lines and only one example of the mark... If important, need to see more data. Probably would not make any difference in value either way.
