This Japanese rice bowl us just under 3" high and just over 4.5" in diameter and has a stamped mark on the bottom. Heavily decorated on all sides, but the base was left unglazed. The mark is a bit deformed and unreadable.
It is quite stained inside and on the bottom and will not clean up, so has apparently seen quite a bit of use, though it has no damage. It is a very thin bowl so it is somewhat remarkable that it has suffered no damage. I have not been able to find anything similar and have no idea who/where/when it was made. It does have some similarity to Kutani bowls that I have seen which have designs painted in a vague, outside the lines manner, where there are guidelines, that is. The decoration is pretty casually done.
Very inexpensive bowl but worth picking up since it is hand decorated, in great shape and signed.
Probably a coincidence, but the colors are similar to those on my Okinawa awamori flask:

Beautiful rice bowl, the design with the bridge & bamboo is really pretty
Thanks for your comments, Jenni! It is kind of an odd color combination, but i think it works.
