This was a neat find at an op shop I once frequented regularly before I moved away from Sydney. Popped in there last weekend during an excursion/nostalgia trip.
This vase is made from two layers of cased glass, a spreading yellow over an opaline white interior. The yellow layer has a cadmium content verified under UV.
It measures 18.5 cm tall, 4.7 cm across the crimped & pinched up top rim, & 5 cm across the base, which has a rough pontil patched over with a rather grungy blob of glass.
I once owned a light blue opaline vase in exactly the same shape & crimp style.
Victorian era, late 19th century, possibly Bohemian origin.
