This Japanese kogo (incense holder) is about 3" high x 3.5" in diameter, signed just above the base and came with a tomobako. The tomobako is signed under the lid. Missing its sanado-himo (ribbon) and ukon-fu (tumeric cloth) and any documentation that may have been included. At the time I found this, I identified the artist but have forgotten who it was and didn't take notes....

This is made of a highly fired ceramic and it sounds like glass, though the exposed clay is quite rough. This is part of a collection of kogo I acquired several months ago. I still have a few of these to post. I was actually looking for a set of Koransha footed sake cups that I acquired quite awhile ago when I found my box of kogo. Still looking for the cups....

I am going to start a collection for my Japanese incense holders, kogo and non-kogo.... I just added my first wooden kogo to the collection. Post to follow.
