Bought this piece in an antique store with two other pieces 40+ years ago. We just downsized to a very contemporary house and are trying to keep the old and go with an eclectic look. We had to get rid of one piece because it just didn't fit in our new home. Obviously, that table is not part of the set, it was in our former kitchen. I want to keep this piece and get a new dark brown table to go with it. Our home is modern farmhouse now, so I am trying to blend this piece with something that would go. Here's the thing-I don't know what style this piece is. Is it Victorian? Maybe, someone out there knows what it is and has a suggestion as to what kind of rectangle table with go with it and still go with our home. The other sideboard, not pictured, is being used with a mirror above it by our garage door entrance in the house. I couldn't part with it.
Renaissance Revival. Very nice buffet, beautiful !~
Wow! I just looked it up and could kick myself for getting rid of the other piece. It was about 6' tall and had those big columns and there was just no where to put it. On top of that I paid $200 to have it removed from the house. I will definitely keep these two pieces I have left and tell my kids they can't paint it black and white, which is what they want to do. Thank you for sharing and I will keep this up to see what others have to say.
It is indeed beautiful.
Thank you:)
