These two pieces are over 70 yrs old. They belonged to my husband's father. They are approx. 3" tall and made of heavy brass with patina on them. They each have screw holes on the bottom, which looks to me like they were a decorative piece on a jewelry box or something. My husband's parents spent a lot of time in the early 1900's over by Jones Beach in NY. Jones Beach uses sea horses on many things, as their decorative design. I don't know if they came from a gift shop there, if there was a gift shop there at that time, or what. They have intrigued me for years and I would like to do something decorative with them, but don't have a clue what. Any ideas as to what they were used for, or a history of them, or ideas what I could do with them?

They're both beautiful. Possibly lamp finials, many from my area (near Jones Beach as a matter of fact) have nautical designs

That is a possibility and I never thought of that. Thank you for your input. Let's see if anyone has any other thoughts.
