Cobblestone streets in New York City mainly date to the late-19th century, and Belgian blocks were used to replace previous dirt roads. They remained in popularity until the 1920s-1930s. The three stones in my possession are reclaimed artifacts, which are sold to the public for namely landscaping. My interest is directed to historical preservation, as the blocks are over a century old and witnessed significant transformation in the urban landscape throughout the years.

It is estimated, based on a NYCDOT statistic, that less than fifteen miles of cobblestone streets remain in all five city boroughs. Most of them are primarily in the financial district of Lower Manhattan.
