RIGO’s history extends back to a company known as Trenton Hotel China, which began operating as a hotelware sales agency in 1926. The company name was changed to THC (Total Hospitality Concept) Systems, Inc. in 1959. THC subcontracted the manufacture of china, bearing the THC back stamp from 1971 until 1982 and RIGO back stamped commercial ware from 1976. In the 1980s they purchased a number of porcelain factories in Asia for this purpose. In 1987 THC formed RIGO Corporation as a subsidiary, a name derived from the initials of its founders, Robert and Eugene Goldberg. Oneida Ltd, which had owned Buffalo China since 1983 acquired REGO along with his parent company. THC Systems Inc. from the Goldbergs in October of 1996. REGO manufactures, porcelain dinnerware, accessories, serving pieces, and oven-to-table ware for the food service industry. The porcelain tableware products are fine to heavy gauge with a white or ivory body, and plain, or rolled edge; some with high alumina content for added strength.
These hefty restaurant ware mugs are dark brown porcelain; curved to warm your hands when cupped around the body of the cup. Ink stamp signed on the bottom. The cups measure 4.25” long, 3 1/8” wide, 3 7/8” tall, and hold 7+ ounces.
