This and the next post are from a series of plates, bowls and vases made by Garry in the 90s and early 2000s.
The inner layer of glass is clear and then a blue/ cobalt layer is put on, then the surface is sand blasted and acid etched. The engaving is diamond wheel intaglio cut.
Intaglio is a flash word meaning all the pattern is below the surface :)
This plate is big 390mm across and quite heavy, engraved "G Nash 96" so this means Garry himself would have made it, items with just "Nash" from this time mean his Studio staff would have had a hand in them.
I got this and the following vases off a lady in Auckland from whom I got the Mc Donalds celebration paper weight. She emailed me and asked if I was interested in more Nash pieces the only catch was she was very keen for me to pick them up, just a 730Km round trip.
The price was right so off on the scooter I went with a big tube bag on the back and a ton of bubble wrap!
