I purchased this detailed 23" bronze at a a local yard sale. The owner argued that it is a piece off a fountain. I thought that it was a lamp at one time. Which of us is correct? Any other information you may have about the warrior & approximate age would be appreciated. Sorry for the improper categories. There was no category for bronze, metal art, sculpture, Scandinavian, etc.

I think this is the Mythic God of the North Woden. Woden is presumably derived from a common god of the pre-Christian Germanic peoples and is often identified with the pagan god Odin, who was worshiped in early medieval Scandinavia and called the “Allfather” in Old Norse. He was called Allfather, because he is one of the creators of the world.

Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge mp.kunst. The fact that you are willing to give of your time to help someone that you don't know is appreciated. I found myself lost in the history of the Mythic God of the North, "Woden".
