Here is another fairy lamp - I'm clearly on a roll with these difficult little units at the moment (saying that, it means I probably won't find another for ages...)
This one was a case of making a match - I spotted the green satin glass dome on eBay UK, & knew it would be suitable for at least three spare bases I had hanging around.
It arrived today & I was able to pair it up with a base I found in a local op shop in 2022 while on an excursion with Karen.
The dome is made from lime green satin glass (looks like it might glow under UV but doesn't) with a swirled pattern. It is a small size dome. I tried it initially with a Clarke Fairy Pyramid base, which was okay but just slightly too big. Since I knew I had another style of cup, just that tiny bit smaller, I was able to achieve a perfect fit.
Base is not a Clarke item, it is an example of a "Bijou Illuminator", marked with an RD number 92571. This cup design was registered on January 30, 1888 by J. Stembridge of London, Importer. The cup itself was made in Europe.
Dome circa 1880s, uncertain origin.
Lovely fairy lamp, great research. Congrats!
Many thanks, Peggy!
