The Sherman tank Cobra King, which was operated by Company C of the 37th Tank Battalion during the Battle of the Bulge, was the first tank to enter the Bastogne perimeter on December 26, 1944. The Allied counter attack campaign went from 12/16/44 through 1/25/45, pushing westward toward the Siegfried Line
