Hello everyone!!
I've wanted a set of these bronze clad steeplechase bookends for a very long time and was just not willing to pay what sellers are asking for a set of these, not to mention the fact that these are extremely difficult to find. I came across this set that was in extremely poor condition, paint loss, broken tail and very dirty (see pic #4). I got them for less than $50 and was able to work some magic with them. I repaired the broken tail, cleaned, repainted and then gave them a couple coats of sealer. I was pleased with how they turned out. These were designed by artist Paul Herzel and they are signed. These were more than likely produced by Armor Bronze in the early 1900's, but there are no Armor Bronze markings on them to indicate that, only the Paul Herzel signature. They measure 6" long and 5 1/2" tall.
Thanks very much for stopping in for a look!!
