Hello everyone!!
I've wanted a set of these bronze clad fox hunt themed bookends for a very long time but wasn't willing to pay the $$$$ that sellers are asking for a set of these. I found this set for $30, but they were in extremely poor condition. Lots of paint loss and the dogs had became completely detached from their base. I was able to make the repairs, clean them and repaint them (please excuse the dust).
These were sculpted in 1937 by artist D. Martini and manufactured by Armor Bronze. I've had no luck at identifying this artist, so far. But the artist did a beautiful job designing these. They measure 6" long, 4" wide with the tallest measuring 8 1/4" tall. The pair of bookends weigh nearly 10lbs together. So, quite heavy.
Thanks very much for stopping in for a look!!

Great job on the repairs!
Seeing this reminds me of a lady at our work that used to give me grief during duck shooting season calling me a duck murderer!!
This carried on for years until I found out she was a member and had been Master of the local "Hunt Club", she laughed out loud when I told her what I had discovered and just told me she just loved winding me up :)
Of course their are no foxes in NZ, they go after hares or rabbits.
Fantastic fox hunt bookends, such a creative design with the fence as bookend part. A very handsome hunting party!
BHIFOS,
Thanks very much!! I was always a hunter, but life got busy and I haven't hunted in years. We have plenty of foxes and coyotes in Kentucky, but no one really hunts them. There are a lot of folks around here that'll give hunters a lot of grief, but not enough to deter them from hunting.
Jenni,
Thanks very much!! I felt very fortunate to find these and be able to restore them.
