    Seeking ID of this dark iridescent swirled vase. Looks like turn of the century Bohemian, but the pontil mark is throwing everyone off.

      ah the maltese cross pontil, a favourite maker of glass in NZ of mine Tony Kuepfer uses this pontil break. Tony was originally from Oregen USA and was shown the method by Fred Daden who was a top gaffer at Whitefriars in England at his Inglewood studio here in NZ in the late 77. I understand it has been used by others in this region and the US, check the link

      The pontil mark is not really throwing anyone off, as mentioned in facebook. It is a pontil style used in much more modern studio production, and eliminates the possibility that the vase is early Bohemian production. In addition, the colors and iridescence in the decor are not anywhere near as refined as one would find in early 1900 production. Your vase is most certainly post ca 1975, and most likely American or NZ studio production,
