Dear community,
Is there anyone who can help identify this compote? I recently acquired it at an estate auction, and initially, I assumed it to be Bohemian glass (possibly Pallme-König or Kralik). However, I’ve since learned that the pontil indicates it is rather a modern production, perhaps originating from the USA or New Zealand.
The art glass vase that the user "LVTBoutique" posted three days ago seems to share a few similarities with my piece, so I am wondering if it could be from the same, yet unknown, artist. Does anyone know more? Is there a way for me to find out if this could be a Tony Kuepfer piece, an Inglewood Studio creation, or something else? Unfortunately, it has no signature or markings.
It measures about 6.5 inches tall and 6.5 inches across.
Thanks in advance for any help! I’d also be grateful if the user "BHIFOS" could see this, as he/she mentioned Inglewood and Tony Kuepfer. :)
Your home page seems devoid of any detail as to where you are based, are you in New Zealand or elsewhere?
Hello BHIFOS,
Thank you so much for your reply! I’m happy you saw this post. :)
I currently live in Kansas, USA, and the auction took place in Kansas City. Other glass items in that auction included pieces by Carl Radke, some Imperial glass, and a few identified as Kralik, along with others that seemed to have a similar style and pontil as my compote. If it helps, I can take screenshots of those items and post them here.
Wishing you a happy new year 2025!
OK probably not Tony's work but I have emailed him for comment he might recognise whose it is.
Wow, thank you so much for your effort! That is very kind of you!
I'm hoping that he or someone else knows more! The longer I search, the more examples I find of (in my opinion) similar glass being mistaken for Bohemian glass or labeled as Bohemian style with an unknown maker. It would be amazing if somebody could solve this!
Looking forward to his reply.
It isn't Tony's work, see his comment below.
"I don’t think that piece is one of mine. Has a few hallmarks of me, like colour and iridescence but not a style I recall making."
Thank you very much for your support and the information; I really appreciate it! In the meantime, I’ve spent hours trying to figure out the artist, and I believe I finally have a very strong lead. I sent the respective artist an email with my pictures and also called the studio. I should receive an answer next week and will update this thread as soon as I’ve solved the case.
