Here are some paintings by artist Kay Bonanno (1935- ). The first two, I purchased directly from the artist ten or fifteen years ago. The third and fourth, I recently added to my collection, so I do not know what they were titled. The titles might be written on the back but both have a sealed dust cover.
Not sure if she is still active, 90 years old this year! I like her use of color, light and shadow. My favorite size of painting is 9" x 12"..... Just a handy size for hanging and a large enough canvass for complex work.
Kay Bonanno was born in 1935 in New England, but resides in Rancho Palos Verdes, California. She is a painter in oils and pastels. She is an artist member of the California Art Club, a Signature Member of the American Impressionist Society, and an Associate Member of the Oil Painters of America. "The Potting Shed" was exhibited by Bonanno in the summer of 2009 at the COLORtec Salon, Torrence, CA. She is mentioned in The Best of Pastel by Constance Flavell Pratt. Her web site is no longer active.
"Sitting in the Park", Kay Bonanno, 6" x 9, oil on board.
"Potting Shed", Kay Bonanno, 9" x 12", oil on board.
unknown, Kay Bonanno, 9" x 12", oil on board. There appears to be an old church in the background. The tree is possibly blocking the view of a steeple. I need to get a better image of this painting. Will update post when that happens.
unknown, Kay Bonanno, 8" x 10", oil on board. This is by far the least detailed painting that I have ever seen from Bonanno. I think it is a sketch that she found worthy of signing. Or maybe it is a very late work by her and result of waning ability. No judgement. I am waning as you read this.
Beautiful paintings!! Such an incredibly talented artist!
Thanks for the comments, Scott. Her country scenes are my favorites but she also did city scenes both in the U.S. and other countries. Quite a career.
