Victorian purple art glass biscuit barrel with silverplate lid

Here is a very interesting Victorian biscuit barrel which I picked up cheaply on eBay AU.
I know there's a few biscuit barrel fans out there, so hope you enjoy it, folks!
The decor is one I've not seen before, a very fine swirling, streaky spatter which looks kind of galactic. Like those time - lapse photos of stars. Perhaps it is an imitation stone type glass.
The ground is dark purple, with hints of blue & white. It is very heavy, thickly cased glass, completed by silverplate fittings which are in good condition for their age.
No idea of a maker but I feel most likely English origin, late 19th century.
