Hello I’ve been looking for a painting that I know I have but can’t find, and have opened a box of paintings and stuff like that, I found this and I don’t even remember finding it, I’ve not opened this box in ten years, like the others I have posted I don’t know whether this is Japanese or Chinese. The back looks antique,
Still hoping for a expert in these kind of embroidery items, I know they are a thing of the past as I don’t think they consider this as art work just old tat nowadays. But a lot of work must have gone into it.
Bingo I’ve just found writing on the back of this embroidery and it says
The finest hand embroidery from China
I guess that help answer my questions about the others too.
Beautiful piece. I would frame it under glass and hang it up! Out of direct sunlight, of course.
Thanks Kw this is framed already, but took close picture to show detail
Based on the brown color where the mat was cut, the mat is made of acid bearing material. It should be re-matted and backed to preserve the material, which will degrade over time due to acid content. It would not cost much to do that.
Ok thanks Kw are you talking about the foxing , I noticed that I only see that on items that are either antique or close to it. But thanks for advice I hadn’t considered it.
