This deeply carved wooden plaque is about 8.25" high x 6" wide x 1.25" deep. It is not signed or marked. It depicts the Japanese god Daikoku. This god has become synonymous with wealth and fortune and often display in Japanese kitchens. That is where I will hang this after treating it with tung oil to seal it. It does not appear to be very old so don't have any concerns about oiling it to preserve it. It also does not show any signs of having been displayed in the past.

I do not know who/when this was made, but purchased directly from Japan so I am comfortable in identifying it as Japanese folk art.
