Hello everyone!!!
When I first saw this piece, I had a feeling it was a Franz Bergman bronze piece. The seller stated that it was a vintage metal dog with no markings. So, I got it for really low price. My suspicion was correct. It's cold painted bronze and, once I cleaned and polished it, I was able to detect the marking "GESCHUTZT", which means the design is registered or copyrighted, on his underside (pic #4). Franz Bergman used that marking occasionally in the late 1800's. Though he's experienced some paint loss over the past 125+ years, he's still in wonderful condition and I'm very happy to add him to my cold painted bronze collection. He's small and measures 3 1/2" long and 2 3/8" tall.
Thanks very much for taking time to stop in for a look!!
